Q: When should I enter the meet?
A: The entry deadline is posted on the USA Track & Field website, however the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) recommends entering the meet now to ensure that you have access to all the services offered by the LOC—housing, transportation, credentials, tickets, etc.
Q: Do I need to reserve housing? How do I do that?
A: Yes. Every athlete who has met either the A or B qualifying standards can and should make housing reservations. Because we expect all hotels to be operating at full capacity, housing will be at a premium -- and it is important to make housing reservations as soon as possible. To make housing arrangements, contact the Local Organizing Committee’s housing bureau. Complete information about the process for securing housing is on the Eugene 08 website under the Athlete tab.
Q: How will I get to and around Eugene?
A: Getting to Eugene
Getting to and from Eugene is easy via the Eugene Airport. Car rentals are readily available at the airport or community-based locations.
Eugene and Springfield are on the I-5 corridor, 195 miles north of the California/Oregon border, and 105 miles south of the Portland Airport.
Getting Around Eugene
Athletes and credentialed support will have access to transportation from their arrival into Oregon until their departure. There are three main components of the shuttle system for athletes:
Airport Shuttles
The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) will provide round-trip transportation from the Eugene Airport to the major hotel areas for a period of three days prior to the start of competition on June 27th until two days after the completion of competition on July 6th. (Shuttles from the Portland Airport will be available if reserved with the LOC ahead of time by filling out the form on the Eugene 08 website.)
Shuttles to Hayward Field
The LOC will provide transport from the Hilton and the Gateway hotel properties during all days of competition and on the non-competition days that the facility is open.
Shuttles to South Eugene High School Practice Facility
For the three days prior to the start of competition until July 6th, shuttles will go from the Hilton, Gateway hotels, and Hayward Field to South Eugene High School on a regular schedule.
Q: How does my coach or agent get credentials or tickets?
A: Each athlete who is accepted into the meet will receive one complimentary “Athlete Support” all-session credential for his/her coach or agent. For information regarding credentials, please visit the USA Track & Field website.
Q: How do I get tickets for my family or friends?
A. All “A” qualified athletes have been sent a form that enables them to order up to two tickets for each of the days they compete. “B” qualified athletes in the top 30 in each event have also been sent the same form, and should there be tickets available after the “A” orders are filled, “B” standard athletes will be notified by May 29th that they are able to purchase up to two tickets for the days they compete. Note—to be eligible to purchase tickets, all athletes must have entered the meet by going to www.usatf.org.
