Spectators
Overview
What is Eugene 08? It is a track meet and it is a Festival. It is a showcase of sustainability, of accessibility, of community. From June 27 – July 6 at historic Hayward Field, in Track Town USA, Eugene 08 will engage you, entertain you and inspire you in a way that has never been done before at an Olympic Trials event. Welcome! Enjoy! Be Inspired!
Whether you live a few blocks away or have traveled many miles to get here, you will enjoy the majesty of historic Hayward Field -- its backdrop of evergreen covered hills and the intimacy of its covered wooden grandstands. Hayward Field has been called the Carnegie Hall of track and field, and you will experience a meet filled with high drama and virtuoso performances.
Eugene 08 promises to be a dramatic, inspirational, emotional experience for everyone — athletes and spectators alike. The 2008 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field will offer a streamlined schedule to allow the track fan to satiate his or her appetite for competition, and still have time to explore the fun and beauty of Lane County.
Adjacent to Hayward Field, you can enjoy the Eugene 08 Festival complete with two Jumbo Video Screens with simulcast of the competition – so you can kick back and enjoy a beer or soda while you watch the drama unfolding just meters away. There will be a stage powered by solar energy with live entertainment before and after the meet. The “Super Block” will be filled with interactive displays, merchandise, food vendors, expo booths and more. The Eugene 08 Festival is free and will be open before, during and after the competition. It will be the place to go for meet spectators as well as those who do not have tickets.
Throughout the community, you will find special exhibits, tours, and activities. The world renowned Oregon Bach Festival happens during the same weeks as Eugene 08 and will have concerts at venues all over town, including at the Eugene 08 Festival. Whether you live in Eugene, are visiting for the first time or have been here before, the meet schedule allows you to plan day trips to the Oregon Coast, area wineries, country gallery and farm tours, rafting and fishing, and much more.
