With more than 15,000 spectators, 1000 athletes and 1000 members of the media coming to Eugene for the 2008 Olympic Team Trials – Track & Field, transportation to the event and transportation around town will be an important element in the success of the event. The Local Organizing Committee and many different subcommittees have been working on a variety of solutions to ease traffic congestion and ensure that everybody attending Eugene 08, as well as area residents are able to get to where they want to go without disruption. Roads in the area will be temporarily closed and alternative routes marked. Click here for a map of the road closures. Closures will begin June 19 and continue for 10 days to 2 weeks after the end of the events.

Getting Here
- Getting to and from Eugene is easy via the Eugene Airport on any of five carriers serving Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Phoenix, Portland, Redmond, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and Seattle. Travel by bus or train is convenient via Amtrak and Greyhound. Car rentals are readily available at the airport or community-based locations.  

Eugene and Springfield are on the I-5 corridor, 195 miles north of the California/Oregon border, and 105 miles south of Portland.

Shuttle Service - Spectators with automobiles will be encouraged to use the free shuttle service. Park & Rides will be set up at Autzen Stadium  and at South Eugene High School. LTD buses will deliver spectators to the entrance of Hayward Field and the Eugene 08 Festival.

Walking - Signed routes from each of the free shuttle sites will guide those who would like the opportunity to walk from their parking spot to Hayward Field and the Eugene 08 Festival. The South Eugene High School Park & Ride is only 7 blocks from Hayward Field, and from Autzen Stadium, it is a beautiful walk through Alton Baker Park and over the Willamette River.

Bicycling - Spectators can also choose to ride a bicycle to the event.  Free valet bicycle parking will be available within a block of the entrance to Hayward Field on 15th Street at Moss. Click here for more information about bike routes in the area.

Parking - Spectator parking is extremely limited, so fans are encouraged to use the shuttles or regular LTD system. Park & Ride locations for the free shuttle service are at Autzen Stadium  and at South Eugene High School. Additionally, you can use LTD regular Park & Ride locations  -- LTD has created an interactive map which allows you to locate the Park & Ride location near where you live.

Accessible Parking - Eugene 08 is encouraging all attendees to use the Park & Ride shuttles from Autzen Stadium and at South Eugene High School instead of driving to Hayward Field.  Both locations will have ample ADA parking and the shuttles will be lift-equipped LTD buses. There will be limited first-come, first-served ADA street parking 13th between Agate Street and Franklin Blvd. See map.

Bus Service - Getting around Eugene is a breeze on Lane Transit District, which offers comprehensive service throughout the metro area.  LTD’s EmX express buses are free, and will drop you just two blocks from the entrance to Hayward Field.
